Concord Shakespeare Festival Conference
July 31 through August 2, 2009
Concord, Massachusetts
Directions and Parking
The Concord Free Public Library is located at 129
Main Street. It is at the intersection of Main
Street (Route 62) and Sudbury
Road. Please use the Sudbury
Road side entrance to the Library for this event.
Library parking is available in parking lot on Stow
Road, across Sudbury Road
where the Emerson Umbrella for the Arts is located. Handicap parking is
available in the spaces closest to Sudbury Road.
Additionally, you may park on either side of Main
Street.
The Masonic Temple
is located at 58 Monument Square,
in Concord Center.
However, there is no address on the building! Please look for the red building
with the white trim and white columns on the front portico (front door of the
building). This building is also known as the “Corinthian Lodge.” The Masonic
Temple is tucked in between the
First Church of Scientist and Monument Hall, Concord Lions Club, in the Holy
Family Parish Hall.
Please see map.
Directions to Concord
By public transportation:
The MBTA Commuter Rail Fitchburg Line stops in Concord.
The Concord Free Public Library and the Masonic
Temple are an easy 10 to 15 minute
walk from the station. Please see our Map page for walking directions from the station. Please see
the MBTA web site for schedule and fares.
From South and East:
I-95 to Exit 29B (Route 2 West)
Proceed west on Route 2. After passing signs for the town of Lincoln,
you will come to the major intersection of Route 2, 2A, and the Cambridge Turnpike.
Be in the farthest right lane to go straight through the intersection to
Cambridge Turnpike. The Mobil gas station will be on your left as you go
through this intersection. Continue on Cambridge Turnpike, (which is a country
road.) Eventually, this road will merge with Lexington
Road. Make a “left” at Lexington
Road and follow to Concord
Center, to Monument
Square. See map for parking. If you miss Cambridge
Turnpike, continue on Route 2 west to the next intersection, Walden
Street. Turn right on Walden
St and follow to Main St
in Concord Center.
See map for
parking.
From North:
I-95 south to Exit 30B (Route 2A West) Proceed west on Route 2A. You will
eventually reach the major intersection of Route 2, 2A, and Cambridge Turnpike.
Turn right at Cambridge Turnpike in front of the Mobil gas station and follow
to where it merges with Lexington Road.
Make a left on Lexington Road
and follow to Concord Center
to Monument Square. See map for parking.
Please note: Google maps and old maps show Route 2A as Lexington
Road. If you are referring to a map while driving,
there is a sign for 2A at the junction of N Great Road
and Lexington Road that
will be confusing -- particularly because there is no sign for Lexington
Road. The town rerouted 2A to keep trucks off this
road. If you do not know the area, the best thing is to proceed as above. If
you do know the area, Lexington Road
is the old 2A and will bring you directly into Concord
Center to Monument
Square.
From West:
Go east on Route 2 through the Concord Rotary. After the rotary, turn left
at the traffic lights at the next intersection, which will be Elm
Street. Take a right onto Elm
Street and follow signs to Concord
Center. Eventually, Elm
St will merge with Main
Street (Route 62). Make a “left” on Main
Street and follow to Concord
Center. See map for parking.
Parking
Municipal Free Parking is available in the Municipal lot
behind Middlesex Savings Bank, off Main Street,
from Keyes Road. (Please
see map.) Most of this lot offers free parking with no time limitations. Park
in a non-metered space. The Masonic Temple
is a few minutes walk from either end of the lot. You may walk to the Masonic
Temple via Main
Street to Monument Square,
or use the footbridge that will bring you to Lowell
street, next to the First Church of Christ,
Scientist. Turn right. The Masonic Temple
is the next building after the church.
Street Parking: There is street parking in Monument
Square and the streets in Concord
Center, and beyond. Please pay
attention to signs and meters. Some parking spaces are short-term in Monument
Square and in the heart of the shopping area,
others have meters, and others have no restrictions. Meters are in effect
Saturdays.
Handicap Parking: If you require a parking
space close to the building, please contact us for information. You may email
us at concordshakespeare@gmail.com or call 203-528-9318.
